Today, Aero EDIH gave a general presentation on XR in Sundsvall.
RISE opened the session with a presentation from Aero EDIH, sharing findings from a preliminary study on how Extended Reality (XR) is being used in the aviation industry, as well as the methods and technical tools currently applied.
Participants from Sundsvall Airport (the host of the event), Örnsköldsvik Airport, Malung-Sälen Airport, Norrköping Airport, and Sundsvall Municipality—supported by A2M—had the opportunity to test the XR solution. The purpose of the project is to develop training support that simplifies and enhances the effectiveness of training. Experience-based learning introduces groundbreaking opportunities for airports to deliver fire and emergency-related courses.
Stakeholders also identified potential uses for XR technology in other types of airport training.
